Energy-Wise, Flex-Space

A typical garage can be quite uncomfortable, especially in the hot summer months or in very humid climates. As the sun beats down on the roof and hot air penetrates the uninsulated walls, an "oven effect" is created in the closed in area. To work in somewhat limited comfort, the garage door would need to be open for ventilation. In addition, just think of what this heat is doing to valuables stored in the garage every day. The fabric on a baby stroller, a rubber hose, upholstery in a car, and paint will not hold up as long in extreme heat conditions. Even if insulation is added to the walls, energy efficiency is not at an optimum. Gaps in the wall allow hot air to circulate into the room and moisture absorption effects insulation performance. In the long-term, sagging and settling also become problems.

The answer to all these dilemmas is a "Smart Garage". Constructed out of Snap-N-Lock™ Insulated Panels, the walls and roof create a continuous foam interface for maximum energy efficiency. The solid polystyrene foam core is not affected by moisture and will not sag.

Temperatures within the closed structure are dramatically reduced. Air conditioning can also be added to increase comfort. With a little pre-planning and consideration to wall and roof thickness, a garage can easily be converted into living space at a later date.

This panel, when clad with light gauge steel skins makes for the "Ultimate Steel Stud". The core of rigid expanded polystyrene foam provides shear strength, while the exterior skins provide tensile and compressive strength similar to an I-beam. These are important characteristics in resisting earthquake and hurricane forces.

Working with the Snap-N-Lock™ Insulated Panel is also quicker and easier than alternative methods. A garage can be erected in as little as a day with a small crew of entry-level tradesmen. The panels are very light and easy to handle, which helps the job advance rapidly. The patented connection design simply snaps together, and requires no additional fastening methods at the joint.

All panels arrive prenumbered according to the architectural plan, and cut to exact lengths. Openings for skylights, windows and doors can also be precut. Panels can be customized with a variety of substrates further reducing labor time. Electrical wiring chases can be included in the panels or the panels can be stripped out for surface mounted runs. Step-by step installation instructions are also provided.

Whether you are looking for a new workshop, a multi-car or single-car garage, outbuilding, portable exhibit space, a private office or have another idea in mind, specing the Snap-N-Lock™ Insulated Panel is the "smart" choice. The panel adapts easily to a variety of floor plans and offers architects a great deal of latitude in their designs. Choose from a large selection of preexisting floor plans or let our in-house design staff create a plan specifically for your needs.
